Tiananmen square massacre
In spring,1989, a massive protest was developing in central Beijing. Many university students and others gathered to protest for political and economical reform. Meanwhile, a massive debate on how to handle the protesters was unfolding in parliament. Many politics suggested to negotiate, but Li Peng and Deng Xiaoping, fearing anarchy, insisted on suppressing the protests.
The protests were not just in Beijing, but in many other major Chinese cities. But Tiananmen Square was the centre of the protests, reaching up to about a million people.

Chinese Soldiers were sent out after Li Peng and Deng Xiaoping insisted on supressing the protests. The first day the soldiers didn't do much harm, due to blockades set up by the protesters. Then, the government decided to a deadly decision. The next day, tanks rolled out onto Tiananmen Square, opening fire on anyone, or crushing people to bits. It is not known the number of dead, but many estimates reaching into the thousands. Some protesters stood strong, like this man.
Today it is known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, a sad day for may of people.
